Clay Center Community High School hosted their annual cross country meet Thursday, Sept. 15 and found the girls’ squad capturing first place, while the boys finished in the middle of the pack at fifth.

Sophomore Lauren Smith took first in the girls’ 4000-meter race in a time of 16:31.7, almost eight seconds before the second place winner. Also placing in the top 20 of the Lady Tigers’ young team were Freshmen Janae Wolf in sixth at 17:11.3, and Kylie Pfizenmaier at 18:27.4 for 14th. Sophomore Gabi Koppes finished 19th with a time of 18:48.6.
