CLAY CENTER, Kan.-- Roger Jay Mall, 94, died Monday, Feb. 27, 2023 at the Clay County Medical Center in Clay Center, Kan.
He was born to Eldon and Gaye (Snyder) Mall in Broughton, Kan. on Jan. 29, 1929. Roger grew up on a farm outside of Broughton, Kan. He was a graduate of Clay Center High School.
Roger joined the Air Force shortly after high school and served in Korea. He attended the Art Institute after his time in the military. Roger married Judith L. Fellers, she preceded him in death.
He retired from the Department of Defense as a map and chart maker. Roger enjoyed riding his bicycle and doing genealogy. He was extremely talented at weaving and would weave Indian rugs. He donated several to Kansas State University. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Rebecca (Jerry) Pitchford of Greenwood, Mo.; one sister, Jaclyn Cochran of Liberty, Mo.; two grandchildren, Heather (Todd) Abrams and Malorie Pitchford; and three great-grandchildren, Turner and Violet Abrams and Skylar Auman.
Private family services will take place.
