The CCCHS JV football team dropped a close contest to Smoky Valley Monday night 12-14.

Early in the game it looked like it might be a high scoring affair as the Tigers took the opening kickoff and on the 4th play of the game, Kadryn McManus took an option pitch from quarterback Mark Hoffman 56 yards for a touchdown. The 2 point conversion failed and Clay Center posted a 6-0 lead.  Smoky Valley answered with a sustained drive of their own, taking the ensuing kickoff and logging a 72 yard, 11-play drive of their own, punching in a 2 yard run followed by a successful 2 point conversion run to take an 8-6 lead late in the first quarter.
