Tests, homework, and assignments can be very time consuming. Students often need a place to work. Around Clay Center, Kansas there are some great places to go study. Here are a few:
First on the list is Tasty Pastry. With plenty of tables and space to work, Tasty Pastry is a great place to study. This local business is a bakery that serves donuts, coffee, and other treats. Tasty Pastry is known for their great nut rolls, chocolate logs, and more. It is a classic spot for people to gather and relax.
HOURS: Monday-Friday: 5:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Saturday: 6:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
The next spot is Java Junkies, the town’s local coffee shop. They offer not only coffee but also many other drinks and delicious food. Java Junkies has plenty of tables, even one long one for study groups. They also have free WiFi, which allows students to work on papers, complete math on Delta, and do work on Schoology.
HOURS: Monday-Friday: 7:00 AM - 2:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM.
Around the corner from Java Junkies is the health and wellness shop Happy Hippie. They are a newer business which is owned and ran by a local, Erin Hammel. Happy Hippie offers smoothies, a salad bar, and other great food. They also offer free WiFi for their customers. Happy Hippie has plenty of open space and a calm atmosphere which is great for studying and schoolwork. They also offer yoga classes and massages.
HOURS: Monday-Friday 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Saturday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM.
Another good spot to study is the Clay Center Carnegie Library. The library has its own floor just for students called the ‘Teen Zone’. There are tables, comfy chairs, and plenty of books. There is also a conference room where study groups can go. Free WiFi and a quiet space make the library a great study spot.

Many businesses around town are closed on Sundays. If students need to study on a Sunday, Ray’s Apple Market is a great place to go. They have a small seating area where students can work on schoolwork. Ray’s offers free WiFi as well as many food options from the deli and bakery inside the store. From employees, they suggest early before 11 AM is the quietest time in the store.
