In the last 30 days, several people pleaded to and were sentenced to misdemeanors and a couple of drug felonies in Clay County District Court, most of which were the result of plea deals. These cases included a case where a man was ordered to spend three weeks in jail for misdemeanor assault.
District Magistrate Judge Bill Malcolm sentenced Billy Wolfe to three weeks in Clay County Jail, to be served, after Wolfe pleaded no contest to misdemeanor assault on Wednesday. The sentence was part of a plea deal in which County Attorney Rick James agreed to dismiss two other counts of felony criminal threat in exchange for Wolfe serving jail time. The agreement also allowed Wolfe to serve the time without spending any time on probation.
