CLAY CENTER, Kan. -- Diane M. Carlson, 73, of Clay Center, died Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at her residence.
She was born April 5, 1947 at Clay Center, the daughter of Ralph and Geraldine (Sanders) Hammond. Diane attended the Uniondale and Sunny Slope schools before graduating from CCCHS in 1965. She worked as a secretary for KDOT. She married Gary Carlson on June 5, 1966. Diane later worked as a secretary at Lincoln Elementary School for 18 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Mizpah United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and H.E.U. She was also a member of the Clay Center Country Club, Bunco Club and the Sunshine Club. Diane enjoyed cooking for everyone, doing yard work and gardening and loved having morning coffee at the Tasty Pastry with friends. She is preceded in death by parents.
Survivors: husband, Gary Carlson of Clay Center, Kan.; daughters, Michelle and husband, Doug Coupal of Clay Center, Kan. and Rachelle and husband, David Pfizenmaier of Clay Center, Kan.; brothers, Dale and wife, Deanna Hammond of Clay Center, Kan., Merle and wife, Jolene Hammond of Clay Center, Kan. and Bob and wife, Susan Hammond of Clay Center, Kan.; sister, Shelly and husband, Michael Miller of Wakefield, Kan.; five grandchildren, Kyler Coupal, Kinsey (Trevor) Cox, Chelsie (Aaron) Peters, Kyle (Dominique) Pfizenmaier and Ty Pfizenmaier; four Great Grandchildren, Kamden Peters, Reece Peters, Coleson Cox, Abram Pfizenmaier and two more on the way.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, March 1, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Mizpah United Methodist Church in rural Wakefield, Kansas.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kansas
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021from 2-5 p.m. at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home, Clay Center, Kansas
Memorials can be made to Mizpah United Methodist Church c/o funeral home.
