Clay Center, Kansas -- Julia Patricia “Pat” Schwensen, 90, passed away November 19, 2021 in Manhattan, Kan.
She was born November 29, 1930 in Manhattan, Kan. to C.W.S. Johnson and Margaret Bloomberg.
Pat grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and was a graduate of Corpus Christ High School Class of 1948. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University. Pat married Mert Harvey Schwensen, Jr. on December 28, 1951. They made their home in Clay Center where she was active in the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, NEA Study Club, PEO, Library Club and Pi Beta Phi where she served as a national officer, President of the Housing Committee.
Mert preceded her in death on December 18, 1990. She was also preceded in death by an infant son, Richard; her parents and a sister, Beverly Murray.
Survivors: son, Chris and wife Cyndy Schwensen; daughter, Meg Walker and companion Jeff Lebeda; grandchildren, Pesha Ptacek, Christianna Peterson, Jake Self, Logan Self; ten great-grandchildren; niece, Kim Miller; and nephew, Matt Murray.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 29, 2021 at the St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Clay Center, Kan.
Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Clay Center, Kan.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2021 at Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home.
