Clay County Commissioners decided Monday to spend a little more on advertising what’s available in Clay County to people outside of the county who are looking to travel later this summer and fall.
Shannon Stark, Travel & Tourism, met with commissioners to discuss the placing of ads for Clay County in the Kansas Magazine, Kansas Byways Guide, and the Kansas Travel Guide, according to the minutes of Monday’s meeting. Commissioners agreed they could probably afford to place bigger ads in travel publications after they checked to see how much they had in the Travel and Tourism Fund, which was at about $38,000 before paying the expense of the ads. In the past the county has split the cost of these ads with the city and businesses, so commissioners asked Stark if she thought they’d be willing to pay more for the ads also. Stark said she was confident she could sell it.
