The City of Wakefield is planning to offer a summer youth program, and it’s going to be one heck of a program, according to information provided by Wakefield mayor Chris Dumler at last night’s school board meeting.

Rather than offer a few days of enrichment, Wakefield is putting together a structured program that will be offered for most weekdays in the summer for kids who have just completed kindergarten or grades first through fifth-grade. The program will help meet a need for daycare, as they intend to offer the program between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
