City offices, businesses closed in observance of Labor Day

Many of the businesses and community services around Clay Center will be closed on Monday in observance of the Labor Day holiday.

USD-379 schools will not have class on Monday, Sept. 6. The board office at 807 Dexter St. will be closed as well.

The Clay County Landfill, Weed Department, Hazardous Waste, and Recycling Center will be closed Saturday, September 4th until Monday, September 6th in observance of the Labor Day Holiday. The departments will reopen Tuesday, September 7 at regular hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday – Friday, and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The Clay County Commission will not meet for their regular meeting at the Clay County Courthouse on Monday and will meet instead on Tuesday, Sept. 7.

The following businesses and offices will be closed on Monday:

  • Clay Center City Hall – including the Public Utilities payment office

  • Clay County Courthouse and all city and county offices

  • Clay Center Carnegie Library

  • City offices in Wakefield

  • Twin Valley Telephone

  • All Clay County banks

  • No mini-bus service on Monday.

  • OCCK, Inc. Transportation will be closed on Monday.

  • The Post Office will not deliver mail on Monday.

  • The Dispatch does not publish on Monday and will close the office on Friday to allow staff members to spend more time with family for the holiday.
