Wallace, Floersch medal to lead Lady Golf to third


Last Thursday, Sept. 9 the CCCHS Lady Tiger golf team traveled to compete in the Wamego Invitational. 

Kinzlee Wallace led the way for Clay Center, shooting a 47 on her way to a sixth place medal. Teammate Kara Floersch finished three strokes back earning her a 10th place finish as she carded a 50. 

Kadence Henderson carded a 55, followed by Emma Frigon who shot a 62. Rounding out the team score was Reece Geer who carded a 67 for the Lady Tigers. 

As a team, Clay Center shot 214 which was good for a third place finish for the Lady Tiger golf team. Wamego placed first with a 174, followed by the Lady Braves of Council Grove with a score of 201. 

KC-Piper was fourth with a team score of 221. Wamego’s B team placed fifth at 238. In sixth was Ottawa with a score of 241 followed by Wamego’s C team carding a 245. Placing eighth, ninth, and 10th, respectively, were Concordia, 252; St. Marys, 259; and Tonganoxie, 287. Holton and Rossville did not field full teams. 

Head coach Dick Alberg said, “It was a nice day for golf…and a good/challenging golf course for us. We left a lot of shots out on the course today but still we did okay. We are just trying to get better, gain experience, and be competitive.”
